Day 28: Persecuted Church

Father God, I come to you today on behalf of the those who are being persecuted for your name’s sake. I know you see them and hear their cries (Psalms 34:17, 1 Peter 3:12). I know their sacrifices do not go unnoticed by you (Matthew 5:11). I pray you would strengthen them, Father (Philippians 4:13, Isaiah 40:31). Give them the grace they need to endure the suffering they face. I pray your peace would wash over them and guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:6-7). Give them faith to conquer the fear; give them wisdom and knowledge; and, give them compassion for their persecutors (Matthew 5:44). I pray that both their lives and, if called, their deaths would be a witness of you, your love and your salvation. I pray that the multitudes would be brought to salvation through Christ because of their willingness to suffer for the furthering of the gospel. Lord, if there is ever a time that you call me to be persecuted or even martyred for your name’s sake, I pray you would give me your peace and grace, as well. I pray that I would not count my life as something to which belongs to me, but that I would be willing to readily lay it down for you and the spreading of your Word (Acts 20:24). Reveal your glory in me, Lord, and use me as you see fit. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.”
