Day 2: Purity and Holiness

“Father God, thank you for this day. I ask you to guard and purify my heart, mind and body. I ask you to help me be sensitive to things that do not honor you. Keep me far from evil. Give me strength to resist any temptation to sin against you (1 Corinthians 10:14). Lord, I ask for a fresh perspective on sinning, that I wouldn’t just write it off as something everyone does but would see it for what it truly is - an insidious evil that nailed you to the cross. Let me not take it lightly. I ask you to create a clean heart in my, Father (Psalms 51:10). A heart that seeks to honor and glorify you in all I say and do (Psalms 19:14). Father, you have called me to holiness; you have set me apart for your purposes (1 Thessalonians 4:7, Hebrews 10:10-12). Lord, give me the desire to live a life pleasing to you, and the resolve to carry out that desire to completion. Strengthen me and uphold me with your righteous right hand (Isaiah 41:10). Don’t let me slip, but keep me firmly planted in you (Psalms 121:3, Colossians 2:7). I pray, Father, that I would be a reflection of you and a light to the darkness surrounding me. Keep my spirit teachable and sensitive to your ways. I love you, Father. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.”
